    Gemini’s cloud tools can summarize logs (records of activity). An attacker could hide secret instructions within those logs. When Gemini processes the logs, it might follow the hidden commands and do things like expose cloud resources.
  2. Search Personalization Bug
    This bug plays on how Gemini customizes results for users based on their search activity. Attackers could inject fake search items — these get stored in your search history. Later, Gemini thinks those fake entries are real user requests and accidentally leaks your private data.
  3. Browsing Tool Bug
    When Gemini helps browse or summarize web pages, malicious instructions can be hidden in the pages. That way, Gemini might unknowingly send your private info out to an attacker’s server.

What Was Done to Fix It

Once the issues were responsibly reported:

  • Google stopped Gemini from rendering clickable links in certain “log summary” responses (this reduces what attackers can sneak in).
  • They reinforced the system to prevent these kinds of hidden-instruction tricks going forward.
