Apple to Discontinue Its Original Cloud Photo Sync Service this Summer
Apple’s My Photo Stream, a cloud-based photo syncing feature launched in 2011, will be shutting down on July 26th, according to an Apple Support page. Although it was still functioning despite being overshadowed by iCloud Photo Library, My Photo Stream had limitations such as restricted photo uploads and a 30-day storage duration. It also didn’t sync high-quality photos in their original resolution. In contrast, iCloud offers full-resolution storage and acts as a modern cloud storage service. The support page assures users that their existing photos will be preserved as long as they have them on their devices.
