Samsung bans AI use by employees following data breach

Samsung has banned the use of AI tools like ChatGPT by its employees to prevent sensitive data leaks. The company recently faced a data breach when its employees leaked sensitive information to ChatGPT. To prevent such incidents in the future, Samsung has issued a memo to its staff, asking them not to transmit any company-related or personal information through AI platforms like ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Bing, which store data on external servers, making it impossible to recover and remove. Failure to comply with the security guidelines may lead to disciplinary action, including termination of employment.

Other companies, such as JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America Corp., and Citigroup Inc., have also banned the use of ChatGPT to safeguard their sensitive data. Meanwhile, the Italian government has banned the use of ChatGPT for privacy reasons, but people can still use VPN applications to access the chatbot.
