Three workers at a Google Data Center have been critically burned following an explosion

Yesterday, an electrical explosion occurred at Google’s data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, leaving three people with severe burns. First responders immediately arrived at the scene and transported the injured victims to the Nebraska Medical Center for treatment.

Although there are no life-threatening injuries, Google services such as Google Search, YouTube, and Google Maps experienced minor outages a few hours later, with over 30,000 reports of service disruptions. Google clarified that the explosion was not related to the outages, which resulted from an internal error.

Investigations are ongoing, and Google is working with local authorities to ensure the safety of workers. This incident is not the first time that data centers have been compromised. In July, Google and Oracle’s data centers in the UK experienced cooling system failures due to the heat wave, leading to data center power outages. Despite these incidents, Google continues to invest billions of dollars to build and equip data centers to meet the growing demand for cloud computing services.
